Aperture Math is an independent website. It is paid through affiliate links: when you click a link to a store (Unistellar, High Point Scientific) and buy, the store may pay us a commission, at no extra cost to you. This is a material connection under the FTC's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255), so we disclose it at the top of every page with such links, close to the links, and here. As of November 7, 2026, no affiliate program has accepted the site yet: links go to the stores' product pages without tracking.
Links to Celestron, Sky-Watcher USA and Seestar earn us nothing: we list them because they publish the specifications and sometimes the lowest price.
How we work
- We have not bought or tested any telescope. We compare published specifications and do the math in the open; calculations are marked [calc].
- Every figure has a source and a date (November 7, 2026). When a figure is not published, we say "not published".
- No brand or store pays to be listed or ranked. "Our picks" follow a written rule, the cheapest model meeting the condition: see How we compare.
- We publish no customer reviews, no ratings and no testimonials, in line with the FTC rule on consumer reviews and testimonials (16 CFR Part 465).
Prices
Prices are those shown by the stores on the day we read them, sale prices included. They change often: check the store before you buy.
